The Quezon City government successfully launched the Service Delivery Network (SDN) for PLHIV last December 12, 2013 to serve as the platform of the delivery of a comprehensive package of services (health and related non-health) to persons living with HIV. The SDN will use as its guide the manual “Referral System for Care and Support Services for PLHIV and their Families in the Community” that was developed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) with the assistance from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), as endorsed by the Philippine National AIDS Council (PNAC) to help strengthen the referral process and coordination mechanism, ensure the smooth provision of needed services, and tract outcomes of the individual referrals.
The launching was attended by Mayor Herbert Bautista, City Councilor Jessica CasteloDaza (District IV), Judy Chen (Officer-in-Charge, Office of Health, USAID), Patricia Luna (Director IV, Social Technology Bureau, DSWD), Councilor Eufemio C. Lagumbay (Chair, Committee on Health), and members of SDN for PLHIV in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding. Also present was Dr. FerchitoAvelino, Head, PNAC Secretariat, and DOH-NEC.
The members of the SDN for PLHIV in Quezon City are the AIDS Society of the Philippines, East Avenue Medical Center, Klinika Bernardo, Lung Center of the Philippines, Philippine Red Cross – Quezon City Chapter, Pinoy Plus Association, Inc. Positive Action Foundation Philippines, Inc., Quezon City General Hospital, Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, San Lazaro Hospital, Social Services Development Department – QC and the Camillian Father’s Wood Water Center for Healing.
